Comparing Pretrial Supervision Modes: Findings from a Random Assignment Study of Remote Versus Hybrid Supervision in New York City

by MDRC

A randomized controlled trial conducted in the Queens borough of New York City to study the effects of remote pretrial supervision (i.e., phone check-ins only) compared with hybrid supervision (i.e., in-person and phone check-ins). Client and staff reactions, impact findings, and policy and practice implications are discussed. The study highlights that both supervision modes achieve the same levels of court appearance and avoidance of new felony charges.
