Reentry into the community from jail or prison can be a critical time, particularly for people experiencing substance use disorders. However, many jails and prisons lack the necessary connections and collaboration with local providers to support continuity of care upon release. This webinar will explore the critical role of community partnerships in supporting individuals receiving medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) within criminal justice settings. Attendees will gain insight into how collaboration between correctional facilities, healthcare providers, and community organizations can enhance continuity of care, reduce recidivism, and support successful reintegration.

Our presenters will discuss strategies and best practices for fostering sustainable partnerships between correctional facilities and community-based programs to address opioid use disorders among individuals reentering the community. The session will also highlight examples of how this has been accomplished in one southwestern state.

Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this webinar, participants should be able to:

  • Understand the importance of establishing partnerships with community organizations.
  • Utilize best practices to develop and maintain effective community partnerships.
  • Learn strategies to overcome common obstacles when forming community partnerships.

*Please Note: This webinar is not registered for CEU credit. A certificate of attendance will be provided for personal portfolio use only.
