Partnering for Empowerment: Engaging Stakeholders in Domestic Violence Notification Programs

Recent legislation has introduced sophisticated victim notification systems, providing real-time alerts and crucial information to those affected by domestic violence. These systems offer new avenues to safeguard and empower victims, enhancing their ability to make informed decisions and access timely resources. However, the effectiveness of these programs hinges on more than just cutting-edge technology; it calls for the active collaboration of law enforcement, social services, advocacy groups, and the broader community. A unified effort is essential to ensure that victims receive the full protection and support they need.

During this session we will review the implementation of the Tiffany Hill Act (SB 5149) in Washington and the recently implemented Debbie and Marie Domestic Violence Protection Act (HB2692) in Tennessee and how they are supporting victims of domestic and intimate partner violence. This session will include industry experts from the legislative and investigatory levels to discuss how victim notification can and should be utilized. In addition, this session will include a short demo of the technology that is available to correlate the capabilities and limitations of using victim notification.
