Review of existing papers on burnout, secondary trauma, vicarious trauma, and compassion fatigue in corrections professionals and exploration of predictive factors, including personal (race, age, mental health), role-based (role conflict or confusion), and organizational (greater number of direct contacts with clients, increased time in the role of community corrections officer, higher caseload size, supervision of people who committed sexual offenses, and threats of harm).
