Discussion of the role of the coach in building confident and skilled supervision staff and in achieving other impacts, including improved outcomes for people under supervision. Proposes a coaching model with five core coaching competencies: knowledge of effective practices and guiding values, establishing quality working relationships, facilitating individual learning, effective communication, and managing group learning sessions.
